Overview

This program is designed to provide students with solid training, well beyond the industry level, in the field of electronic assembly. Successful students will have had the opportunity to develop advanced skills which will well position them to gain employment and advancement in this field.

 

The high tech manufacturing field is growing significantly and has demand for well-trained staff. This program includes all the introductory skills of component identification and material handling through to precision soldering (and desoldering) skills; extensive surface mount training, documentation and diagram interpretation skills, ESD control, WHMIS and industry work expectations. Valuable IPC Certification is also available.

 

Students consistently complete this program at a very high skills level and quickly obtain and retain good jobs. Learn to work with high powered microscopes and modern equipment. Students earn 4 different certifications in this program.

 

Application Process

14 training seats available for each intake. Applicants must:

  1. Attend a General Information Session
  2. Submit a formal application
  3. Take a test for aptitude which includes:
    • Dexterity
    • Colour coordination and identification
    • Ability to follow instructions
    • English language proficiency
    • Employability

Successful applicants will have to demonstrate a suitable aptitude for this skill and a likelihood of successfully completing the program.

Curriculum and Duration

The course is arranged as:

  • 14 weeks of intensive hands on training
  • 12 weeks of electronic assembly related skills
  • 2 weeks computer skills development

During those 28 weeks, you will cover:

  1. Module (I)Digital face
    • Introduction to Electronic Assembly
    • Board Outline and Schematics
    • Circuit Board Assembly and Finishing
    • Introduction to Surface Mount Technology
    • Inspection and Rework
    • Cable Harnessing and Chassis Assembly

    Total Hours: 305

  2. Module (II)
    • English Refresher
    • Basic Mathematics
    • Job Search Skills

    Total Hours: 20

  3. Module (III)
    • Computer Concepts
    • Microcomputer Applications

    Total Hours: 25

The entire certification program is 350 hours of instructor led training.

The school is frequently in contract with employers who appreciate the staff referrals.

Tuition funding can be accepted through Employment Insurance Benefits, Workplace Safety Board, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Ontario Works as well as those receiving severance packages or utilizing their own resources. Adult student loan programs can also be obtained from most lending institutions. Please call for details.

 

Allow yourself sufficient lead time to organize your tuition. All tuition arrangement must be completed prior to the start of training.
