The Canadian Career Academy of Business and Technology is pleased to offer the Career Orientation: Pathways to Employment.

Overview

A career decision making program delivered over 2 weeks, The COPE Workshop Program is ideal for any unemployed individual who is looking for a career direction, labour market exposure and self-discovery. It will help develop a focus beyond "I need a job." This course is offered FREE in cooperation with the Government of Canada.

 

During the program, participants will experience a wide range of activity:

  • Personal profile assessments
  • Different employment sectors, including
    • Call Centre Operations
    • Health Sciences and Health Care
    • Hi-Tech Design and Manufacturing
    • Computers in Our World and Information Technology (IT)
    • CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design and Modelling)
    • Tourism and Hospitality
    • Public Service Sector
    • Self-Employment
    • Education
  • Guest speakers
  • Informative research.

This material will help position participants to make realistic and informed choices.

Career Orientation

Our trained staff works with participants to answer some of these questions:

  • What am I best suited for?
  • Do I have the aptitude?
  • Is this something I can enjoy?
  • Can I make a suitable income?
  • What options do I have?
  • Do I have the education? The skills?
  • Can I learn on the job?
  • What career opportunities are there here?
  • Do I have the necessary self-management?
  • Will I have to relocate?

Pathways for Employment

As participants travel through Career Orientation, our staff direct and aid you to answers on some of these questions:

  • What do I do now?
  • What are my options?
  • What's it all about?
  • What are my choices?
  • How do I make a choice?
  • What if this isn't for me?
  • Where do I go for information?
  • Is there any help out there for me?
  • Can I build on my skills?
  • Are my skills transferable?
  • What are my values, my needs?
  • Do I know my "marketability"?
  • What are my personality traits job-choice connected?

This program is an excellent opportunity for hands-on career exploration. Workshop modules focus on each target topic, with opportunity for other employment sectors to be examined as well.
